Welcome! I'm Mrs. Nacht and I am so pleased to be your child’s teacher this year! We are going to have a wonderful school year together! This is my 9th year in Belleville and I absolutely love my job! I am passionate about teaching and inspiring children to learn. I can't wait to see what wonderful things we will accomplish this year together.

This week in Reading we are talking about our neighbors

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving with their families.
 
This week in Reading we are talking about the places we go.
  • Weekly Concept: The Places We Go
  • Essential Question: What places do you go during the week?

  • Our Macy's Day Balloon designs made it to our class's instagram page! @teachingwithmrsnacht and were liked by Macy's itself!!

In Math, we are focusing on numbers 6-10:

  • Counting 6 and 7
  • Reading and writing 6 and 7
  • Counting 8 and 9
  • Reading and writing 8 and 9
  • Counting 10
  • Recognizing numbers 1-10 on a ten frame.
 
In Social Studies we are talking about kindness and doing kind things for others.

Week of Nov 19th

This week in Reading we are talking about the sounds we hear.

  • Essential Question: What sounds do you hear?

  • We discussed the sounds of the city and talked about the sounds of the city on Thanksgiving Day.
  • We learned about the Macy's Day Parade and designed our own balloons! Check your child's folder for their creations!

This week in Reading we are talking about rules in different places

  • Our class book, Kindergartener, Kindergartener What Do You See? is still being sent home each night. Be on the look out for it in your child's book bag.

In Math, we are focusing on numbers 6-10:

In Social Studies we talked about Veteran's day and will be discussing what it means to be thankful and grateful.

This week in Reading we are talking about bugs that we know!
  • Weekly Concept: World of Bugs
  • Essential Question: What bugs do you know?
  • Letter of the week: Reviewing our letters: Mm, Pp, Ss, Tt, Aa
  • Sight words of the week:  Reviewing our sight words: I, a, the, like, see, we 
  • Our class book, Kindergartener, Kindergartener What Do You See? was sent home this week! Be on the look out for it in your child's book bag.

In Math, we are having a great time with our Halloween themed centers and focusing on:

  • One to one correspondence and 
  • Comparing numbers
In Science, we explored the inside of an apple and learned about the different parts. We even tasted red and green apples and compared the two kinds. 
 
In Social Studies we will continue reviewing our class rules and practicing how to be a good friend!

This week in Reading we are talking about shapes all around us!

In Math, we are reviewing how to:

  • Compare groups to 5 by counting
  • Compare groups to 5
  • Use drawings, objects and numbers to compare numbers
In Science, we are continuing to learn about our Five Senses and will be exploring apples and pumpkins!
 
In Social Studies we will continue reviewing our class rules and practicing how to be a good friend!
 
 
Half Day- October 23rd- 12:30 dismissal - Parent Teacher Conferences 1-3pm
Half Day- October 24th- 12:30 dismissal- Parent Teacher Conferences 6-8pm
 
 

Next week is Red Ribbon Week!
 
Please be sure to discuss the dangers of drugs with your children and take the family pledge to be drug free!
 
Tuesday, Oct 23: Wear RED day- students can wear a red shirt to kick off the week
Wednesday, Oct 24: Sock it to Drugs- students can wear crazy socks
Thursday, Oct 25: Team up Against Drugs- students can wear their favorite team's jersey or shirt.
Friday, Oct 26:District PINK OUT- Wear a pink shirt and jeans (Students $1)
Monday, Oct 29: I Have the Power to Be Drug Free: Students can wear a superhero shirt.
Picture retakes will be on Tuesday, October 23rd for students who did not have their picture taken or who would like their picture retaken. If you are retaking the pictures, return the photos you received and you will not be charged for new ones. If you are taking pictures again and want to keep the originals there will be a charge. 

Week of Oct 15th

 
This week in Reading we are talking about tools and how we use them!

  • Essential Question: How do tools help us explore?

  • Sight words of the week:  "a"
  • Our class book will begin going home later this week! Be on the look out for it :) 

In Math, we are learning to:

Halloween is Wednesday, October 31st
A flyer will be sent home next week about our Halloween Party.
Students must come to school in their costume.
